El Roque Bentayga se halla dentro de la caldera volcánica de Tejeda, en pleno corazón de la isla y está considerado como un monumento arqueológico, dado que contiene un «almogarén», término del dialecto aborigen que podemos traducir como »lugar sagrado de reunión», es decir, es uno de los lugares en que los aborígenes practicaban sus rituales religiosos.
The Roque Bentayga is located within the Tejeda volcanic caldera, in the heart of the island, and is considered an archaeological monument, given that it contains an «almogarén», a term from the aboriginal dialect that we can translate as »sacred meeting place», that is, it is one of the places where the aborigines practiced their religious rituals.
En el lado oriental de la base del roque se halla el llamado “almogarén del Bentayga”. Un muro de piedra que recorre la base del roque por sus lados este y sur, podría delimitar el espacio sagrado, aunque otras fuentes apuntan su utilización como baluarte defensivo.
